The main hospital in the city of Bergamo is struggling to cope with the high influx of #coronavirus patients. Bergamo is the epicenter of the virus outbreak in Italy’s hardest-hit region, Lombardy.
It’s a massive difficulty for every health system. Every day we see 50 to 60 patients who come to our emergency department at morning. Most of them are so severe they need very high doses of oxygen. Therefore we had to reorganize the emergency room and our hospital in three levels of intensity. – said Dr Ferarra
I never felt so stressed in my life. I’m in intensivist and I’m quite used to the intense movement. The choices and people are critical and they will die without you. I know that the treatment makes the difference but when you’re at this point you realize that you are not enough. This year we are all doing our best, but maybe it’s not enough.
